In 1968, celebrated French photographer and filmmaker Raymond Depardon drawn by his love of the desert and curiosity of the area discovered himself an invited guest of the late Sheik Zayed Sultan Bin Nahyan.
Depardon had the nice fortune to witness the second assembly of leaders in Dubai. He documented this event and different stunning moments along with his camera throughout these formative days of the UAE. Depardon has since stored this assortment of images in his archive – with just a few being published greater than 40 years in the past in an issue of Sciences et Voyages, a French Literary Magazine.
In celebration of the 44th Anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates, a collection of these rare photographs are exhibited for the very first time. The exhibition is curated by UAE Historian Dr Fatima Al Sayegh.
